Job Description

WB Games Montreal, a division of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE), seeks a Lead Audio Programmer to work on all audio-related game features for its newest games.

As a member of the development team, you’ll work closely with the audio designers and other department leads on all current console (PlayStation / Xbox) and PC. Your passion for sound will push you to implement industry class audio related game features, develop low level audio features that require console specific development as well as investigate, debug, and optimize the sound engine in use at WB Games Montreal.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Technical Director, propose architectural choices related to audio pipeline and implement them.
  • Work with given budgets to achieve desired results.
  • Implement audio related game features.
  • Optimize systems: streaming, memory usage, etc.
  • Develop tools and processes to enable audio integration into engine.
  • Monitor overall audio performances (both memory and CPU performance)
  • Manage a team of audio developers and dispatch work.

Job Qualifications

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in the video games programming.
  • 5+ years of experience of audio programming.
  • Must have shipped at least 1 AAA game title.
  • Leadership or people management experience is a definitive plus.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering, is preferred.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Strong desire to build industry-leading technology.
  • Strong C and C++ skills.
  • Proficient in performance optimization for game consoles and debugging.
  • Understanding of basic and advanced audio technical concepts (mixing and signal flow, sample rates, data compression, filters, reverbs, 3D positional audio, streaming usage, etc.).
  • Experience with commercial audio middleware (Wwise).
  • Multi-thread and multi-core programming experience.
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine 4 / Unreal Engine 5 is a plus.
