Job Description
As a Senior Character Artist you will be responsible to build the geometry of organic and inorganic characters in the game. You’ll be working closely with the Art Director and Character lead to ensure all character assets are of the highest quality. Day-to-day you’ll be collaborating with other artists in the team, the Producer, and your lead to manage the workflows and meet the milestones while maintaining a reasonable workload. We hope you are interested in improving our current workflows and techniques for character creation and help us elevate the quality across the team in tandem with our technical art team.
Responsibilities
- Create believable characters that are full of life and personality.
- Sculpt complex creature types from bipeds to quadrupeds and beyond.
- Create high and low polygon count models as well as textures.
- Craft character items and hard surface elements.
- Work with character models created by outsourcing studios.
- Collaborate with the technical animation team to maintain the existing character assets.
Job Qualifications
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in video game development.
- Have worked on at least 1 AAA game.
Knowledge/Skills
- Ability to adapt to, and innovate new styles and techniques
- Strong organic modelling skills (human faces, clothing, believable creatures)
- Strong hard surface modelling skills (armour, weapons)
- Very good knowledge of major 3D software packages (Maya, ZBrush, Marvelous Designer, Substance)
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to participate to the team’s well-being and improvement.
- Having experience with Unreal Engine, is a plus, but not required.
