Job Description

WB Games Montréal, a division of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE), seeks a Senior Character Technical Animator.

Your New Role…

In this role, you will be responsible for rigging and skinning characters, providing hair and cloth simulations that react realistically to physical forces, and using your expertise to refine and improve workflows, all while collaborating with other technical artists, character artists, animators, programmers, and more, on a team dedicated to delivering a best-in-class superhero experience for our players.

Your Role Accountabilities...
  • Responsible for rigging in-game characters, delivering smooth-skinning deformation at a high quality through a full range-of-motion.
  • Prepare hair and cloth simulations as required by the various character designs that realistically react to physical forces.
  • Collaborate closely with various teams to ensure results meet the technical and artistic requirements of the project.
  • Exporting and viewing characters in our proprietary tools and engine, including validating, and troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Debug, refine, and make suggestions for pipeline and workflow improvements.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in animation, rigging, cloth, and hair simulation systems for AAA titles.
  • Proficiency in the 3D animation software Maya.
  • Strong eye for the artistic element in physics and movement, and technical proficiency in its creation.
  • Experience in planning and rolling-out workflows.
  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for collaboration.
  • Experience with cloth simulation tools, like Havok, Maya's nCloth or Unreal's Chaos.
  • Proficiency in Python, Mel, or similar scripting languages is an asset but not essential.
  • Having prior experience working in a 3D game engine such as Unreal, Unity, etc.
