Job Description

WB Games Montreal, a division of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE), seeks a Technical Specialist, Localization.

In this role you will be responsible for the maintenance and development of the internal localization tools. You will play a major role in the internationalization of games developed across many development studios around the world. You will be creating new localization tools to adapt to ever-changing requirements and processes. The ideal candidate has good knowledge of video game localization and internationalization and can develop software and write technical documentation.


  • Localization tool programming

  • Writing technical documentation for internal tools

  • Extraction of source texts from different file formats for integration in a centralized Content Management System (CMS)

  • Generation of localization files from a centralized CMS

  • Writing Python scripts to automate tasks

  • Translation Memory maintenance

  • Validation and integration of localization text and audio assets

  • Validation of fonts for English and localized UI assets

  • Localization technical support

  • Occasional localization bug fixing and management

Job Qualifications


  • A minimum of 1 year of game localization experience

  • A minimum of 2 year of programming OR a diploma in software development or related field


  • Programming languages: Python, C#, C++

  • Ability to communicate in English and French

  • Experience with integrated development environment (IDE): PyCharm, Visual Studio and QtCreator

  • User interface design and implementation

  • Knowledge in common exchange formats - JSON, XML, CSV, etc.

  • Knowledge in character encodings (UTF-8, ASCII, etc.) and their impact on localized assets

  • Understanding of game internationalization, localization pipelines, standards, and processes

  • Knowledge in network programming a plus

  • Experience with LocalizeDirect, Gridly, and MemoQ is a plus
