Job Description

The Path Forward Returnship program at WB Games is a 6-month paid returnship for experienced professionals returning to the workforce after taking time off for caregiving. The program is open to individuals who have at least 5 years of professional experience and have been out of the paid workforce for at least two years to focus on caring for a child or other dependent. If you meet these criteria, we welcome you to apply.

WB Games Montreal, a division of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE), seeks a VFX Artist to create stunning visual effects to surprise and delight our players for an upcoming AAA title. In this role you’ll be working closely with the features and environment teams to design and create effects that will take the game experience to another level.

Responsibilities

  • Create game VFX asset, including shaders and particle systems.
  • Profile, optimize and debug the level using GPAD, PIX and other profiler tools.
  • Work with the team to define best practices and workflows and production pipelines.
  • Collaborate with tools and tech team to enhance VFX pipeline.
  • Work with features teams to assess their requirements.

Job Qualifications

Experience

  • 3 years of experience as a VFX artist in video game development.
  • Have worked on at least 1 published game, is preferred

Education

  • A 3D Arts degree is preferred, but not required.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Good understanding of game engines (Unreal is an asset), 3D Max or Maya, Photoshop, and related software packages.
  • Understanding of shader technology.
  • Having exposure or some experience using Adobe After Effects, Toxic, Sony Vegas, Nuke3D or Combustion is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies.

  • Portfolio/website demonstrating your artistic lighting skills.
  • Self-motivated person who thrives in a collaborative environment.
