WB Games Montréal, a division of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE), seeks a Technical Animator with a profile focused on cinematic integration.

 

Your New Role…

In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects related to animation and rigging for the project, as well as integrating animations into the engine using tools such as Unreal Engine’s Sequencer. Your responsibilities will include visual research and development, performance monitoring, setting standards, and troubleshooting issues related to processes and pipelines. You will collaborate with all disciplines to ensure the animation team has the necessary tools to deliver high-quality assets. You will also take ownership of technical challenges, ensuring that deliverables meet both creative expectations and technical constraints.

 

Your Role Accountabilities...
  • Work closely with the Technical Animation Lead and Animation team to define, create and maintain the animation pipeline.
  • Create and generate the rigs of character, weapons and complex objects in Maya.
  • Ensure the skinning of the characters and their different equipment.
  • Create or modify specific tools and/or scripts to improve the speed and efficiency of the Animation team.
  • Support and improve the process of integrating Maya/Motionbuilder into the game engine.
  • Integrate animation sequences intended for cinematics into the engine.
  • Be the first line of defense on the content side when a technical problem arises.

 

Qualifications & Experience…
  • 2+ years of experience in a technical position. Must have worked at least a AAA titles.
  • Good teamwork skills. Able to communicate effectively verbally and visually.
  • Positive attitude and a desire to bring new ideas to the team.
  • Good knowledge with standard industry tools like Unreal Engine, 3ds Max, Maya, Motion Builder.
  • Experience in cinematic integration (Sequencer)
  • Experience with real-time systems (Scripted Events)
  • Excellent knowledge of optimization methods for artistic elements in game systems for game engines.
  • Knowledge of Python is a desired asset.
  • Strong understanding of methods of optimizing game art assets for game engines.
  • Basic knowledge in animation, artistic eye.
  • Up to date knowledge of current art techniques and development processes.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
