Your New Role

Join Warner Bros. Discovery as a dedicated Canadian Senior Payroll Operations Analyst within the Global Business Services People & Culture Shared Services, Payroll Operations team. In this role, you will support payroll administration and compliance, conduct audits, help implement best practices, and investigate and document payroll issues to identify systemic opportunities for improvement. You will research and respond to payroll inquiries, support internal and external audits, and contribute to special projects.

This is a 12-month full-time fixed-term contract (FTC), with potential for permanent conversion.

 

Your Role Accountabilities
  • International payroll operations (Canada): Ensure accurate and timely execution of Canadian payrolls.
  • Vendor partnership: Collaborate closely with Deel (global payroll provider) to support precise, on-time processing; serve as the primary contact for the outsourced payroll service provider.
  • Compliance & employee support: Ensure adherence to payroll processing calendars; serve as the point of contact for international payroll operations, employee issues, benefits, and inquiries related to payroll tools and processes.
  • Issue resolution & case management: Resolve payroll-related inquiries from employees, agencies, and other internal/external parties; manage ticket requests in the case management system for payment issuance and other payroll issues.
  • Analysis & documentation: Compile, analyze, and document issues related to payroll and fiscal activities to identify systemic problems; identify opportunities and contribute to continuous improvements in payroll procedures.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with Legal, Finance, and HR to support payroll compliance.
  • Audit support: Support internal audits across payroll areas; prepare materials for external and internal auditors.
  • Reporting & data analysis: Compile statistics and reports (including ad hoc requests and year-end reporting); run reports and perform analysis using Excel (VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, PivotTables).
  • Testing & special projects: Participate in testing of payroll systems and process changes/enhancements; contribute to other special projects as required.

 

Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience: Minimum 5–8 years of payroll operations experience supporting the Canadian market, with demonstrated ability to manage sensitive and confidential information. Experience in a shared services, large multi–business unit organization is a plus.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and work experience) required. Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification is a highly desired asset.
  • Language requirements: Bilingual; French and English required.
  • Technical skills: Experience with Workday HR/Deel payroll or other SaaS payroll tools required (e.g., EZ Labor, SAP, including S/4HANA) with payroll integrations. Proficiency with Microsoft tools is required, particularly Excel.
  • Relationship management: Strong relationship-building skills with a track record of effective collaboration; recognized for reliability, integrity, and trustworthiness.
  • Process management: Solid knowledge of payroll and compensation practices (salary, benefits, taxes, etc.) and statutory requirements for Canada; exposure to statutory requirements across multiple countries is desired. Skilled in process management, improvement, and re-engineering. Able to manage high-volume activities on time in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organizational skills: Excellent planning, time management, prioritization, and follow-up skills, with strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
  • Communication & influence: Exceptional communication and customer service skills; able to convey complex information clearly at all levels in French and English.
