WB Games Montreal, a division of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE), seeks a Game Design, Team Lead to support the production in overseeing tasks and deadlines for the game design team.

 

Your New Role…

In this role you will be responsible to ensure follow-up and to validate task completion. You will support and coach your team members while overseeing part of the game development. After your integration, you will gradually be responsible to manage a part of the Game Design team.

 

Your Role Accountabilities...
  • Create, prioritize, assign, and regularly follow up on tasks and the advancement of the team’s work concerning deliverables.
  • Represent the team in inter-team meetings.
  • Organize and lead team meetings.
  • Coordinate and run individual meetings to support each Game Designers in their progression.
  • Know the games story, the gameplay, the game design documentation and understand the technical/artistic constraints to be able to lead/coach the team.
  • Anticipate and recognize potential conflicts and recommend solutions to the game direction and production team.
  • Be a support for mentors on the team in terms of technical/artistic aspects of game design for team members.
  • Take part in performance assessments in collaboration with the senior leadership and production team.
  • Coordinate bug correction as it pertains to the team’s work.
  • Ensure that new employees integrate well into the team.

 

Qualifications & Experience…
  • 6+ years of game industry experience with at least 2 years in the role of game designer is required.
  • Having worked on a minimum of 2 shipped console/PC titles in a designer, coordinator, or leadership role (formal or informal).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; being bilingual French/English is a highly desired asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain clear and concise documentation.
  • Experience with designing gameplay systems for an open world game.
  • Experience designing gameplay features for an action game.
  • Strong technical awareness: understanding how design is affected by constraints from different disciplines (technical constraints from code, but also animation)
  • Experience of design in a systemic gameplay environment, especially where multiple gameplay systems/components interact.
  • Familiarity with JIRA and Perforce.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine is an asset.
