WB Games Montréal, a division of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE) is looking for an Advanced Character Artist for AAA game production.

 

Your New Role…

 

As an Advanced Character Artist you will work with all character related teams members in ensuring the presentation of characters supports emotional and narrative context to meet the creative vision. You can problem solve, self-critique, self-direct, and own important portions of the character creation workload. You will work closely with the Art Director and Lead to contribute to the artistic vision of how our character models are designed and developed including, improving the character modeling pipeline. You will be responsible for delivering the highest quality models for use in gameplay and cinematics. The Advanced Character artist is adept both technically and artistically to help set the quality bar and mentor others to elevate their practice.

 

Your Role Accountabilities...
  • Work with the Art, Production, and Creative Direction leadership in ensuring that character art assets maintain coherence with the larger product creative goals.
  • Mentor your fellow character art-focused development team members to help enhance the team’s skills and overall quality of studio products.
  • Create believable characters that are full of life and personality
  • Create complex creature types from bipeds to quadrupeds and beyond
  • Create high poly and low poly models as well as textures.
  • Character items and hard surface elements.
  • Contribute to R&D and creation of standard setting quality bar examples.
  • Collaborate with the technical animation team to maintain the existing character assets.
  • Work with Lead Artist to maintain schedule.
  • Work with AD to make sure all models are of the highest aesthetic quality.

 

Qualifications & Experience…
  • At least 8 years of experience in video game development and having worked on a published AAA title.
  • Having a pportfolio/website demonstrating your artistic skills.
  • Ability to adapt and to innovate new styles and techniques.
  • Strong organic modelling skills (human faces, clothing, believable creatures)
  • Strong hard surface modelling skills (armour, weapons)
  • Very good knowledge of major 3D software packages (Maya, ZBrush, Marvelous Designer, Substance)
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to participate to the team’s well-being and improvement.
  • Ability to mentor peers or previous artistic or technical leadership experience is an asset.
  • Having experience with Unreal Engine, is an asset.
